Making Peace with the fear of death
Our current scientific worldview offers no escape for those afraid of death.
Generally, in our culture we have been taught to fear death. We have been told that it is natural to fear death-so we do.
I remember being 8 or 9 years old and waking up at night with night terrors. I remember being gripped with the fear of dying.
Exactly, what is it that you fear? Is it the fear of loss? Loss of what?
Do you fear going out of existence-fear turning into nothing?
Are you afraid to lose your body?
Are you afraid of losing relationships?
To understand death, you must first understand life.
What is this thing that you call “my life” and who is the “I” that supposedly owns this life?
You experience life through your body and therefore assume that when your body dies and disappears that you will too.
Is your “life” your body? Is your life defined by your body?
You speak about your body as if you came with it. You look at your body and say, “this is mine”…right?
Do you look at your body and also say, “this is me” or, are you more than your body?
Every day, I realize my body grows older and decays a little more. So the real fear is not that my body will fail someday, it’s failing now!
What will become of “me” is the real fear. Isn’t it? Do you wonder, “Where will I go?”
The answers may be seen within the disciplines of Quantum Physics and Biocentricity.
They posit the following:
Everything in the universe is made up of energy and information.
The First Law of Thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be converted from one form to another.
Biocentricity proposes the universe exists as a function of consciousness.
Consciousness is made up of energy and information.
Consciousness is fundamental to what it means to be a human being. It is the intersection of your inner-self and the world.
Given the universe is a manifestation of consciousness-consciousness created life and life can only be experienced through consciousness.
Since consciousness is energy and since energy cannot be created or destroyed, then it follows that life will not cease when the body dies-it will only change form.
That means the body will die but the you, the consciousness that experiences the body, will not.
The personality, or the ego that you identify as you, is an expression of your consciousness.
Your body is like a piece of clothing that you put on-it is a representation of you, but you don’t say “I am my clothing” so why do you think, “I am my body?”
You came from consciousness, you are consciousness, and will always be consciousness. Even when your body dies.
Consciousness, energy and information cannot die, therefore, you cannot and you will not die.
Science cannot explain nor refute this.
Consciousness exists outside of time and space,
Consciousness exists. Consciousness is.
Period.
