My parents died within 4 days of one another. It took me 9 months to sift through their computer, paper files, and other documents to settle their estate. Afterwards, I was left with two persistent thoughts:

  • I wish I would have gathered and memorialized their stories, their life challenges, greatest accomplishments, the lessons and wisdom that they wanted to pass on, and how they want to be remembered.

  • It would have been faster, easier, and much less stressful if their documents would have been organized for me.

    Thus, Before-I-Go was created.

There are many things to collect and create before we go.

Some things like gathering and organizing your important documents are fairly routine and just take time.

Others, require more thought and creativity.

Leaving your legacy may seem a little more challenging.

The focused workshops will guide you through the process.

What I learned going through the process:

It all begins with a story, your story. Who else, but you, could have lived your life? Who else could tell your story?

Maybe you want to memorialize the great lessons you learned?

Perhaps you want to share the wisdom that you gained.

Or maybe you want to tell the stories that you want to share with future generations-the stories that helped pave the way for their lives.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story can make all the difference for your descendants.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you.

There are over 8 billion people on the planet, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to live on and your legacy will evolve with it.

Your goal should be to make it feel right for right for you. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
