Session 2: with Melissa Greer

In Workshop 2, we will delve into the crucial and often overlooked aspects of planning for the end of life. Participants will explore various end-of-life options, with the opportunity to decide whether they prefer a simple or complex healthcare directive. This directive will serve as a guiding document for loved ones and healthcare providers, ensuring that your wishes are respected when you are no longer able to communicate them. Additionally, we will take time for you to outline your end-of-life and burial wishes, providing clarity and peace of mind not only for yourself but also for those who will carry out your final plans.

The workshop will also challenge participants to examine the concept of the "good death," a term that often carries societal expectations and personal biases. We will discuss the myth of the "good death" and consider what it means from a woman's perspective, recognizing that cultural, gender, and individual experiences shape our views on death and dying. Throughout the session, you will continue to build your "Before I Go Binder," a comprehensive and personalized guide that captures your final wishes and important information. This binder serves as both a practical tool for your loved ones and a way to reflect on and prepare for the inevitable, ensuring that your end-of-life journey aligns with your values and desires.

In this session we will explore your:

  • Final arrangements
